If we were invaded by aliens and had to fight an epic war, then having the military be in charge would probably increase our odds. It’s as if humans have an emergency override mode that was critical in the past but some people have figured out they could take advantage of it. Naturally, the solution is education, so you don’t fall for attempts of power grab, hence the book burning.
